Childcare has become a vital institution for American women in the workforce. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics* women with children under age six in childcare for some portion of their day increased from under 40% in 1975 to 64% in 2008. For women with children ages six to seventeen, those using childcare increased from under 60% in 1975 to 77.3% in 2008. Despite some variance in statistics for age, state, and resource, it is safe to say that many children now spend at least some time in child care during their critical developmental years. As a result, child care centers, family child care homes, relatives, and nannies have become essential to working families with children. Early Childhood experts and Policymakers have recognized the importance of child care not only because of the vital role it plays in helping parents work, but also due to the impact it can have on the development of children.

Learn To Talk Around The Clock Concepts has also recognized the impact that the quality and type of childcare can have on young children. For that reason, Learn To Talk Around The Clock, At Childcare was born. This product looks at the typical activities of the childcare day and attempts to find ways of integrating intentional and meaningful conversations throughout the day. Many practice activities are included. You can learn more about this product below. I also encourage you to SIGN UP to receive the FREE e-newsletter. The Leader's Guide to accompany the Childcare program will be available in early summer, 2011.

"Karen's newest program is an adaptation of the Toolbox for use by those who work in childcare settings, where many of our hard of hearing and deaf babies spend considerable amounts of time. This “Childcare” toolbox has been the break-through resource I've needed when trying to simplify and teach the most important concepts to childcare providers who have no background working with the HH/D population. What a life-saver it has been!" Amy McConkey Robbins, MS, CCC-SLP Speech-Language Pathologist, Early Interventionist, Author
