On the first day of school, Preschool teachers welcome a new flock of three-year-olds to school. They come walking through the door in their new "big boy" and "big girl" clothes with backpacks on their backs as big as or bigger than they are. What will this year bring? Who are these new little people? Some of them know how to count to ten. Some of them can sing their "ABC's," some of them have older brothers and sisters, and some of them are the oldest or the only child in their family. But what is one thing that they all need to learn: language and communication. They need to learn how to ask for help, to describe their joys and concerns, to invite another child to play in a specific area, to be specific when they describe their painting to Mom, or to ask and answer questions. This is where their abilities vary widely. We know that without these language and communication skills, a child will struggle greatly when he or she begins Kindergarten.

As a Preschool teacher, you can help prepare all of the children in your care to start Kindergarten ready to learn. With an intentional focus on developmental listening and language objectives throughout the preschool day, you will find that your students are competent with their spoken language, with asking and answering questions, with understanding and following directions, and with using their words and sentences to communicate with you and their friends.

COMING SOON! JUST FOR YOU!!

Preschool is the new focus for Learn To Talk Around The Clock. Although many of the concepts developed for Early Intervention can be extended through the preschool years, there have been no actual products developed for Preschool Teachers. This will change over the next year as we develop, Learn To Talk Around The Clock at Preschool. In the meantime, the Preschool page in the NEW e-newsletter is available monthly in your email. SIGN UP to receive the FREE e-newsletter, "Talking Tips" and let us know what you think. Also, check out the other products and see if there might be something helpful for you.
